Muckenthaler Motor Car Festival coming to Orange County May 18

For generations, classic car lovers have flocked to Orange County, California, to take advantage of the pristine driving conditions and scenic vistas along the many miles of beautiful highway that cross through Southern California. It should come as no surprise, then, that one of the premier vintage automotive events takes place here every year at the gorgeous Muckenthaler Estate.

The Muckenthaler Motor Car Festival is a two-day extravaganza devoted to showcasing the finest restored classics on eight acres of lawn. The event is split up into two different shows that take place over the weekend of May 18. On Saturday, “Hot Rods” take the stage, as the meanest muscle cars from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s are on display for the admission price of just $5.

Then, on Sunday, the Concours d’Elegance takes place, featuring only the most beautifully restored cars from the dawn of the automotive era until the late ’70s. Here, you’ll find horseless carriages from the ’10s, Italian convertibles from the ’50s and even a few Volkswagens from the early ’70s.

This year, the organizers of the show are honoring one car in particular – the Porsche 911 – for being a leader in the compact sports coupe segment for the past five decades – so spectators can expect to see one of the largest assemblages of 911s in California history.
