KEEPING IT HIGH & TIGHT IN DEEP ELLUM

Of all the advantages of having a sleek new office space in Deep Ellum, our favorite has been getting to explore the neighborhood and witness the resurgence of one of the oldest and most eclectic parts of Dallas. For your viewing pleasure, we’ve decided to document our explorations in lifestyle videos and our sponsored video channel “Dallas Fix.” We’ll go behind-the-scenes in Dallas’ hottest neighborhoods to show you the best places to call home and how to live well in your neck of the city. To see full Dallas Fix videos go here.

HIGH & TIGHT: Blink and you might miss High & Tight, the inconspicuous barbershop storefront on Main Street that cuts as much hair as it does cocktail limes. But on any night of the weekend, it’s impossible not to notice the long line of patrons waiting for access to its Prohibition-era speakeasy in the back. It didn’t take long for this Deep Ellum haunt to make a name for itself. The hook is simple and well-executed: Hair business in the front, booze in the back. It’s not flashy and the staff does not suffer fools (don’t you dare use the word “salon” in here). So in a city that’s all about flash and has a revolving door of quirky concepts, how does High & Tight manage to hold its own? Check out the video for the secrets to its success.
