The Leaves May Be Falling, But Our Housing Market Is On The Rise!

Though there’s plenty to love about Dallas throughout the year, autumn is where our slice of North Texas really begins to shine. The beginning of the state fair, the many Oktoberfest festivals, cooler weather and, of course, the return of football, make residents proud to call Dallas home. As the autumns pass, more people choose Dallas as they buy their homes here, a trend which hasn’t gone unnoticed by real estate analysts. There are three main reasons why Dallas continues to grow through the years:

  • A strong housing market,
  • An improving job market,
  • And an influx of large corporations moving to the area.

So far, 2014’s third quarter has seen the most closings since the same quarter in 2008, a statistic which experts see as a sign of healthy growth which they predict will continue. According to a report in the Dallas Business Journal, 2014’s third quarter has seen nearly 6,000 closings, a number which doesn’t show any sign of getting any smaller in quarters to come. Homebuilders in the area are breaking ground on more than 6,500 new properties to accommodate new and relocating families. By one analyst’s estimate, there’s a solid 2-month inventory of new houses to accommodate those looking for a new home.

Dallas has it’s strong job market to thank for this upward trend in housing. Numbers from the US Department of Labor show the job market has been steadily improving since 2009. In fact, total nonfarm employment in the Metroplex rose by 3.9 percent from July 2013 to July 2014, beating out the national 1.9 percent increase. Our employment growth is the second best in the nation thanks to a number of corporate expansions and relocations.

Corporations like FedEx, State Farm Insurance, and Toyota have all decided to plant roots in the Dallas – Fort Worth area, bringing with them swarms of employees looking for new homes. Yet again, analysts are optimistic about Dallas, saying this kind of business growth will only continue in the coming years.

There are a plethora of reasons to choose Dallas, TX besides our wonderful Autumns. Whether you’re looking to experience the best Texas has to offer or grow with your company, you’ll love living in Dallas. And with the business and housing markets showing continued growth, you can rest easy knowing you and your family will be happy for years to come.
