Christmas Festivities in Dallas

It is November, so that means it’s officially Christmas–at least, according to Dallas! If you’re looking for a way to get into the holiday spirit earlier than usual this year, check out these events!

Running until January 3rd, the Arboretum has put up its annual Holiday at the Arboretum, completely running over any Thanksgiving turkeys in its path. This holiday tradition includes several exhibits such as the “Twelve Days of Christmas” enclosed in glass and “The Artistry of the Nativity” while many gazebos are filled with characters recreating holiday moments. This Christmastime display is finished with a 30 foot Christmas tree! Tickets are $20 for non-members and $10 for members. Called one of “The South’s best holiday experiences” in Southern Living Magazine, we must take advantage of this event to put Dallas in the Christmas spirit!

The Gaylord Texan’s ICE! will begin it’s “Around the World” event on November 17th as they display more than two million pounds hand-carved ice sculptures surrounding the theme! Activities will include: two-story tall ice slides, the North Pole and an opportunity to sit on Santa’s lap, and a tour through the Frostbite Factory, which is an interactive ice carving. Come to the Gaylord Texan and celebrate cultural traditions from around the world and see how other cultures celebrate the holidays.

The greatly anticipated Chi Omega Christmas Market begins November 18th! This market is a unique tradition in Dallas. If you’ve never been, I highly recommend it! You can get your Christmas shopping finished in one go–there are more than 175 vendors from all over the country, selling items that vary from antique jewelry to food and original art. Throughout its 38 year history, the Chi Omega Christmas Market has distributed $6.75 million dollars to the Dallas community. What could be better? Shop for the holidays AND give to charity and go to the Dallas Chi Omega Christmas Market!
