Celebrating St. Patty’s in Dallas & the Woodlands

This year, Ireland is coming to Texas on March 17th for St. Patrick’s Day! Break out your green clothes and shamrocks, because St. Patty’s is a holiday to be reckoned with. The Modtown Blogger will be your guide to green beer and leprechauns this year! We hope you have the luck of the Irish this March 17th.

Dallas’ 37th St. Patrick’s Parade is coming to you in 2016! On Saturday, March 19th, pick a spot on the two-mile parade trail to watch over 90 floats and 1,700 parade participants! Dallas boasts that this parade is the largest in the Southwest, so don’t miss out and find your spots early! The website advises that people take the DART instead of driving due to traffic.  It begins at 11:00am, but the restaurants on Lower Greenville, from Vanderbilt Avenue to Vickery Boulevard, will have food and drink specials and three stages of music starting at 9:00am! The map can be seen below.

Also, if you’re feeling ambitious or want to burn some drinking calories before the parade, there is the Dash Down Greenville 5k beginning at 8:30am. You won’t see me there, but you will see several runners in green top hats.

The Woodlands

The Woodlands has several popular locations where you can swap shamrock pins and drink a pint of Guinness. The first stop is at The Goose’s Acre, an Irish pub in  town that is hosting a week-long celebration for St. Patty’s, starting with Irish Bingo on March 10th and finishing up with an Irish Whiskey dinner on March 16th that leads up to a full day of celebration. If you’re feeling ambitious, you can also drive to Houston’s 56th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade that starts at noon, rain or shine! Also on March 17th, there are St. Patty’s activities at Irish Pub Keneally’s including bag pipers, Irish step dancers, and traditional Irish food.
