Autumn at the Arboretum

When you’re thinking of things to do in Dallas, look no further than the Arboretum. With fall comes deeper, lovelier colors, cooler weather, and everyone’s favorite holidays! Whether your favorite activity is picking a pumpkin to carve for Halloween, collecting fallen leaves for Thanksgiving decor, or taking those over-sized sweaters out of storage, the Dallas Arboretum fulfills your fall needs.

The Dallas Arboretum houses a nationally acclaimed Pumpkin Village which holds more than 75,000 pumpkins and gourds to pose with when you take your fall family photos. The official website of the arboretum says that, in true Texas fashion, the many gourds will be created in an Old Texas Town. It also includes a Texas-shaped mosaic!

Apart from the autumn presentation, there are several varieties of flowers presented, including: “150,000 fall-blooming flowers, such as marigolds, daisies, begonias, rudbeckia, penstemon and chrysanthemums.” Who could resist that?? Can’t you imagine snapping some beautiful photos with your loved ones amongst these gorgeous flowers?

If you are a member of the Dallas Arboretum, you can visit this event for free! If not, an adult ticket costs $15 and a child costs $12 (3-12). Autumn at the Arboretum runs from September 19-November 25.

The Dallas Arboretum is also hosting “Harvest Tea” Monday through Friday; during lunch time (11am-2pm) the Arboretum offers tea, tea sandwiches, and sweets. It costs $47 per person, and requires reservation. Also, in honor of everyone’s favorite season, there is also an Oktoberfest Garten to enjoy an authentic German lunch. While perusing the beautiful gardens at the Dallas Arboretum, you can listen to the complimentary music and enjoy some amazing food.
